DIY Birmingham had this to say about Fringe Existence, Null’s latest release on Step Pepper: “Lead by K. Wright, a prominent musician in the local DIY scene, the band has undergone a series of shifts and transformations. Initially a solo drone metal project, Null’s most recent outing finds them exploring post-punk with fantastic results.”
As the title suggests, Null’s latest release Fringe Existence echoes to us from the outskirts, groaning to life with slogging rhythms and tense, faraway vocals—reducing the ensemble to a bare minimum before lashing out in ear-splitting anger. Yet hidden beneath the dissonance and abstraction lies the earnest, almost bluesy introspection of a troubled mind caged by difficulty and doubt.
